This week we will be focusing on this video as it provides a wide range of writing opportunities for us to explore.

Please watch the video carefully and stop the video at the following points: 15 seconds, 1 minute 8 seconds, 1 minute 15 seconds 1 minute 22 seconds, 2 minutes 45 seconds, and create thought bubbles for the people making the wishes. What might they be wishing for? Why?

I have attached a sheet which you may wish to use or you could simply draw the thought bubbles in your books and write what they may have been wishing for.

Science

How do we see colours?

See the attachment below for this week’s investigation.

Make a rainbow

You will need:

  • A glass of water
  • A mirror that will fit in the glass
  • Some sunlight (or a torch)

Fill the glass with water and put the mirror in it so it lies on its edge. Let sunlight fall on the mirror and watch as it forms a rainbow outside the glass. Sometimes the rainbow will fall on the table, or on a wall or ceiling, so have a good look for it.

Be careful! Do NOT look directly at the sun or at the reflected sunlight from your mirror. It can permanently damage your eyes.

Draw a diagram to show how we see different colours. Write an explanation text to explain what happens and how we see a range of different colours.
